Cardona has had a very good season so far under former Barcelona B coach Garcia Pimienta. The 24-year-old has been a standout for the side from the Canary Islands as they have risen up to eighth place in La Liga in just their first season in the top tier. As per Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan side are vary of Cardona's contract situation and have already been in contact with the player's agents to discuss a potential free transfer in the summer.

Barcelona have made quite a few free transfers over the last few years as they continue to struggle with their finances. It is likely that the club could be targeting Cardona in a similar vein and with the dwindling form of the now-injured Alejandro Balde, the 24-year-old could very well step right into the first team for the Catalans.

In the summer of last year, it had been reported by Football Espana, that Atletico Madrid had already signed a pre-contract with Cardona as his contract had less than 12 months remaining. This had seemingly angered Las Palmas bosses as there were even calls for the left-back to be dropped from Pimienta's side. However, the rumours never came true and currently, it has not been reported that the Rojiblancos are in conversation with Cardona.
WHAT NEXT FOR CARDONA?
The Catalan left-back will likely be in action on Saturday, January 27 when they take on title contenders, Real Madrid in what is likely to be a massive test for the side that has shown such promise this season with their attractive play.
